Original Citroen parts suppliers produce quality and reliable products, which is why they are so widespread around the world. There will not even be any doubts about the compatibility of the parts with the units.

How to choose parts for Citroen

The fastest and the most correct way to choose the parts is to use a specialist or the VIN number of the car. The service staff knows all the peculiarities of choosing and installing the necessary spare part, which allows saving time and getting a good replacement, and the data of the code can speed up the process.

How to choose a spare part by car brand and model

This method of selection is not reliable enough, especially if a similar part is selected. Then there is too high a probability that the part just won't fit the car. In fact, this is a widespread problem, since the manufacturers of the analog parts themselves do not take into account the model peculiarities of the car.

When contacting the service center, the service technician will ask the car's VIN number, because the selection of spare parts according to it is the most correct. However, if the selection is performed only by the make and model, the sites of suppliers often have a special filtering of goods.

How do I know the part number (code) of a Citroen?

First of all, you should look in the vehicle data sheet - there is written a VIN code, which is the code of the part. Due to this number, you can easily find the part. It happens so that the passport is not always at hand, or it is simply forgotten, then you can look directly on the machine. The manufacturer leaves this 17-digit code on the car: on the cylinder block, on the windshield, under the hood on the inside, in the trunk on the upholstery or on the floor covering near the seat.

What can be found out with the help of VIN-code?

Seventeen-digit code has a short name of VIN-code. It is a code composed of numbers and letters, but even there are some exceptions, for example, it is impossible to find the following symbols: I, O, Q, 1, 0, because they can be easily confused with each other.

So, what can be known from this code, which is located in the data sheet, as well as in the car on the upholstery or under the hood:

- technical information, such as make and model, year and country of manufacture, serial number, what type of body and engine the car has, manufacturer information and the like;

- whether or not the car has been in an accident;

- How many times it has been re-registered;

- whether it has been overhauled;

- and so on.

For the most part, all of this information can easily be found out with the help of a specialist who works with Citroen cars or in a service center.

Which parts are better: analog or original?

Of course, if the budget does not allow, and the car must be on the run urgently, then it is better in this case will be analog parts (but here, too, you need to be careful, choose suppliers who have positive reviews). If you answer the question without considering additional factors, then unanimously - the original, because it is quality and durability, which is so important for every car.

Of course, with a proper search, you can find and analog quality versions of the component parts, but they will not always be suitable for a particular model of Citroen, so here you need to be careful. In the end, you can contact the service employees - they will be able to tell you.

How to distinguish original Citroen parts from analog parts?

Original spare parts have a lot of distinctive external features. Even a beginner can cope with the difference between the original and analog. So, if we talk about analog parts, they are distinguished by the following:

- An ordinary box without a brand mark;

- No OEM code;

- Attractive price, that is, very low - due to the use of low-quality materials;

- Some analogs have official permission for production from the factory, but even so, their quality is still not at the same level as the original components.

As for the original products, then:

- The parts have branded packaging, which belongs to the official supplier and is branded Citroen;

- The documents are available: both the license and the warranty;

- High quality - this ensures long-lasting operation;

- The manufacturer takes into account the model features.

What is an OEM number?

You can choose an auto part for Citroen using a unique OEM number. The deciphering of this abbreviation looks like this - "Original Equipment Manufacturer", which literally means the manufacturer, in our case, of the component parts for the Citroen car. This code includes symbols - both figures and letters. The advantage of the fact that the owner knows the OEM code, is the fact that it will make it easier to find the part, which needs to be replaced.
